Alatau IT City

Alatau IT City - is a Special Economic Zone with tax and customs incentives for all information and telecommunication companies working in the park.

Alatau IT City was established with the vision of making Kazakhstan a top 50 destination for high-tech business. To achieve this vision, AIC will be developed as the premier destination for high-tech business in Central Asia. It will provide a one-stop destination for all business needs which will include world class infrastructure, attractive business and residential space, manufacturing complexes, logistics and data center as well as commercial activities needed to provide a lifestyle desired by knowledge workers of today. We will also create a brand for AIC that will be synonymous with quality, excellence and innovation.

Alatau IT City will have 5 gates from all sides. By virtue of site’s oblongness, and also with the purpose of the whole object service, it is planned to build 2 Commercial centers that will include offices, hotels, restaurants, exhibition centers, etc. Northern zone will be the main commercial center and Southern zone – secondary one. These centers will be the key points of AITC, and will be connected by the Central park, that will also serve as the point for the following objects at the AITC territory.

IT buildings zones are situated on flanks of 2 Commercial centers and the Central Park. Such buildings are created for R&D, and also for the location of the main companies’ offices. Internal and external premises are created for cooperation and communication, in order to discuss and discover new. Together with the buildings of Commercial zones and the Central Scenic Park, IT houses create atmosphere, where ideas will be nurtured, developed and grow into the perspective projects.
This zone will be surrounded by the Manufacturing cluster. Corresponding producers will join together to create the unique synergy group. This will allow producers of each group to be interconnected and together to use resources for computer and software production, product flow out of each group can be minimized, and time of the movement can considerably become low. All these will create more effective environment for manufacture.

For the support of the “Work” aspect there are additionally created Residential, Recreational and Institutional clusters. Such clusters will make a group that formed all-round environment “total lifestyle”. The main aim of grouping is to provide access to these clusters for workers and their families without the necessity of crossing the Manufacturing cluster. Besides, close location will facilitate usage increase and being of demand means of these clusters.
Multi-storey and capacious buildings of the Residential zone will become home for AITC office workers and their families. Workers and their children will have direct and quick access to the international schools and universities, situated in the Institutional zone. For the repletion of everyday needs there will be built hospitals, banks, restaurants, magazines, supermarkets, cinemas (Commercial Zone). In spare time and on weekends workers will be able to relax and have a rest on close stadium, clubs, parks, etc. (Recreational Zone).
CONSTRUCTION PHASESBy virtue of project continuance and with the aim of its effective development Alatau IT City construction is divided into 3 phases.
The 1 st Construction phase occupies the space of 73.5 hectares. It includes IT buildings and facilities of the manufacturing cluster. Also here will be built North commercial center, including banks, exhibitions, and also buildings of the Educational cluster. Total build up area of the 1st phase will be not less than 69 thousand km2. It is planned to finish the Construction of the 1st phase by 2007 year.

On the 2nd phase of IT Park development, that includes about 114.3 hectares, there will be continuation of the construction of the main buildings and facilities necessary for the IT companies’ work. It is planned to build houses for the IT Park workers and Recreational sector. The total build up area of the 2nd phase will be not less than 87.3 thousand m2. The construction of this phase will be finished by 2010 year.
In 2011 year it is planned to begin the Construction of the 3d phase and it will occupy the area of 152.2 hectares. Total build up area will be not less than 135.1thousand m2. It is planned to build Southern commercial sector, IT buildings and manufacturing clusters.
BUILDINGSThe construction of the 1st phase will be finished by April 2006 year. It includes the 4 main buildings and subsidiary facilities. All the main buildings are connected between each other by galleries, there is also parking for 400 places.
Office building area is 5701.9 m2; it is calculated for 360 working places. Besides office premises there are modern equipped conference-hall and meeting rooms, exhibition sector with convertible partitions, trade-service sector, where there are situated supermarkets and service organizations (transport pay offices, corporate and retail bank branches, Courier Company, etc.). For more convenience of the Park’s clients there are fixed coin box telephones and slot-machines in the building.

In the 1 st phase there were built 2 manufacturing modules with the total area of 9000 m2. The peculiarity of these buildings is its increased air tightness and microclimate that allows making an assembly of high accuracy equipment. Besides manufacturing premises itself, which size is 2150 m2 и 2112 m2; there are office premises in the modules and also various office premises for the workers (rest rooms, showers, cloakrooms).

In order to provide IT companies workers with food there will be canteen for 500 places.
Alatau IT City is equipped with all the necessary engineer communications including power supply, water supply and drainage. All buildings are equipped with the automatic fire-fighting systems, ventilation and air conditioning. Heating and hot water supply are carried out with the help of its own boiler-house.
For the power supply of the 1st phase it is provided 2 separately standing package transformer substations. Also there are 2 diesel electro stations of «FG Wilson» mark with the power of 240 kW and fixed in separately standing containers-modules.
In order to provide Park with telecommunications in December 2005 year there was built fiber-optic link between the Park and Almaty with the capacity of 16 fibers. Connection is carried out by means of digital channel of STM-1 level with the speed 155 Mb/sec to Metro Ethernet network in Almaty via Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet channels.
Provider of the Park is Kazakhtelecom Company, the largest national operator of communication services. Hereinafter, as the Park develops, it is planned to attract other communication operators.
In order to provide continuity of communication services it is planned to build reserve channels, both fiber-optic, and wireless (satellite, radio relay).

In the Park there are also accessible services of long distance and international telephone communication, including connection to the telephone provider by Е1 flows. Operator of these services is also Kazakhtelecom Company.
Telecommunication is based on Cisco equipment. The solution is maximally scalable and provides maximum level of reliability, and also wide choice of subscribers’ facilities functionality and the opportunity of complex modernization by means of software renovation.
